Climate change adaptation refers to behavioural and systems changes that reduce vulnerability to current or anticipated climate change impacts. Different adaptation actions, tailored to the specific sector, activity or location, can be taken to manage various climate change risks and vulnerabilities. A provincial climate change risk assessment (conducted by the Department of Environment and Climate Change) explores the effects climate change might have on the well-being of Nova Scotians. The Nova Scotia Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture is building on this risk assessment work, by assisting the seafood and sportfishing sectors in Nova Scotia to adapt to climate change through dedicated projects and programs.
