Climate change mitigation refers to reduction or elimination of greenhouse gas emissions. Nova Scotia has committed to strong emissions reduction targets of at least 53 per cent below the levels that were emitted in 2005 by 2030 and achieve net zero by 2050. To support this work, the Nova Scotia Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture is actioning several initiatives and projects that will help the seafood and sportfishing sectors to reduce their carbon footprint, by supporting adoption of energy efficient technology and practices.
